Emet is a city and capital of the district of the same name ( İlçe ) in the Turkish province of Kütahya . The city is located about 65 kilometers west of the provincial capital Kütahya .
The district is located in the western center of the province. It borders on Gediz County in the southeast , Hisarcık County in the south , Simav County in the west , Tavşanlı County in the north and Çavdarhisar County in the east . The D595 trunk road runs through the district town and the district and leads north from Simav past İznik Gölü to the Gulf of İzmit in the Sea of Marmara . The Emet Çayı (also Alıova Çayı ) flows west of the city and flows further north into the Uluabat Gölü lake . To the west of it lies the Eğrigöz Dağı Mountains, up to 2072 meters high , and to the east is part of the Karlık Dağı . About three kilometers north of the city there is a mining area for boron .
In 1970 the region was hit by the Gediz earthquake .
In addition to the district town, the district consists of 37 villages ( Köy ) with an average of 239 inhabitants. The scale of the population ranges from 1,012 ( Günlüce ) down to 5 ( Kalfalar , is also the smallest village in the province). 13 of the villages have more than 239 inhabitants. The population density (21) does not reach half the provincial average (of 49.7 inh. Per km²)
