Ali Tanrıyar (born March 14, 1914 in Eleftheroupoli , Kingdom of Greece , † May 25, 2017 in Istanbul , Turkey ) was a Turkish medic , Interior Minister of Turkey and President of Galatasaray Istanbul .

life and career

Ali Tanrıyar was on March 14, 1914 in belonging to the then Kingdom of Greece Eleftheroupoli village, which was still the name Pravi or Turkish Pravişte born wore. In 1923 he emigrated with his family to the newly founded state of Turkey, where the family settled in Kırkağaç in the Manisa province . While still at school, Tanrıyar joined sports club Galatasaray Istanbul in 1932 ; four years later he graduated from Galatasaray High School. In 1986 he was elected president of the Istanbul sports club Galatasaray and held this office from March 15, 1986 to March 17, 1990. Before that, Ali Uras, a former basketball player and 1952 Olympian, was active as the president of the successful sports club. He was then replaced by Alp Yalman , who was president for another six years. Various titles in the various sports departments of the club fall during his term of office. Ali Tanrıyar, who was married with one child, died on May 25, 2017 at the age of 103 in his hometown of Istanbul. Until his death he held various honorary positions around the sports club and the Galatasaray grammar school.
