Hitler in court is the title of a German feature documentary film from 2009. It deals with the failed Hitler coup of November 1923 and the trial that followed .

action

The plot begins with the attempted coup on November 8, 1923 in Munich's Bürgerbräukeller.

This is followed by the march to the Feldherrnhalle in Munich , in which 21 people were killed, Hitler's escape to Villa Hanfstaengl, the suicide attempt prevented by Helene Hanfstaengl and Hitler's arrest.

The main part of the film is a reconstruction of the Hitler trial .

After a few short scenes about imprisonment in a fortress (celebration of his 35th birthday, dictation for Mein Kampf ), the film ends with Hitler's early release on December 19, 1924.

Background information

The shooting of the film took place in July 2008 at the original locations in Munich and Landsberg am Lech. Protocols and transcripts of the trial served as the basis for the script. The film premiered on March 27, 2009 in BR-alpha and on April 4, 2009 on Bavarian television , with reruns on January 19 and 21, 2013 in BR-alpha.

Director Fischerauer said about his motivation for the film:

"When Martin Choroba asked me if I could imagine making a film about Hitler's coup and the trial that had taken place against him, I knew that I not only wanted to make this film, but that I had to make this film."
