occupation

MA 2412 - Die Staatsdiener is an Austrian feature film from 2003, which goes back to the ORF comedy series MA 2412 . Alfred Dorfer , Roland Düringer , Monica Weinzettl and Karl Ferdinand Kratzl play the leading roles .

action

The movie for the successful ORF series of the same name builds on this and tells from the past of the main characters. It is also the finale of the stories from the Viennese offices. In the form of a report, it is reported how the establishment of the municipal department came about. Various flashbacks are used for this. Engelbert Breitfuß (Roland Düringer) is shown as a child and how his father prepared him for life in office. Michael Weber (Alfred Dorfer) uses his position in the traffic office without any obstacles and is therefore transferred to the office for Christmas decorations. Secretary Knackal (Monica Weinzettl) was a sausage seller before she entered office; one day their hidden “talents” are revealed by the senior senate councilor ( Wolfgang Böck ), who now wants them to be near him. In addition, there are reviews of history that provide historical evidence of the emergence of the civil service. So it goes to the Stone Age, to ancient Rome, to the time of Maria Theresa, to the Congress of Vienna and to the early years of the Second Republic. The roots of the Austrian civil service can be found everywhere.

criticism

The film is staged as a comedy, especially for Austrian cinema, with enormous costumes and historical equipment. Director Harald Sicherheitsitz ( Hinterholz 8 ) proves to be a perfectionist, but the story is rather thin. The big moments of the film are those scenes that do without a big staging. The reasons for the success of the story lie in the elements of the comedy series MA 2412 , which has cult status in Austria, but has remained largely unknown in Germany.

Guest roles

Well-known stars such as Harald Krassnitzer (“ Tatort ”) and Christian Tramitz (“ Bullyparade ”, “ Der Schuh des Manitu ”) appear in guest roles .
