occupation

The Bullyparade was a German comedy show that was broadcast on ProSieben from May 24, 1997 to 2002 . The series achieved its greatest popularity after initially poor ratings through the success of the movie Der Schuh des Manitu , which the Bullyparade team designed based on a series of sketches from the Bullyparade. The Bullyparade team then decided to discontinue the show at the height of its success. The theme tune for the Bully Parade is the piece "Hollywood Follies" by Ray Davies. In 2006, ProSieben showed repeats and specials that were edited together. However, ProSieben limited itself to the last two, most successful seasons, not least because the format had changed significantly since the beginning and viewers who only became aware of the show through the cinema success of Der Schuh des Manitu are not used to the old style were.

The follow-up program was Bully & Rick in 2004 . Christian Tramitz got his own show called Tramitz and Friends .

Repetitions of the bully parade are broadcast on digital television both on the ProSieben Fun station (formerly: Sat.1 Comedy ) and on their “home channel ” ProSieben .

On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the show, the feature film Bullyparade - the film with Michael "Bully" Herbig, Christian Tramitz and Rick Kavanian, was released on August 17, 2017.

Change of concept

Originally the show revolved around the character "Bully", embodied by Michael Herbig. This figure wore brightly colored (e.g. bright yellow) suits, spoke in a raised voice, lisped a little and therefore produced the show Bullyparade for himself in the basement. The character of the Bully is also the main character of the television film Easy Bully , originally planned as a pilot film for the Bully Parade , which, however, was not initially broadcast. Headings like “Bully and the wallpaper” are the only ones recorded in “Bully's” studio, along with brief transitional moderations by Bully between the sketches. Apart from this figure, only the background dancer Diana Herold was in the studio. Christian Tramitz and Rick Kavanian were initially only seen in the sketch clips . Series of sketches from the very beginning included “Bully and the Wallpaper”, for example “Pilots from Passion” and “The current Ted survey”. The original slot was 7 p.m. on Sunday.

In the course of time the character of the Bully faded from season to season and consisted in the end only in the nickname of Michael "Bully" Herbig. The disappearance of Bully could also be read from the visual appearance of the moderator. The color or the style of the suits and the way of speaking normalized and the hair, which was originally more than shoulder-length, became shorter piece by piece. Accordingly, rubrics like “Bully and the wallpaper” were only used very rarely - hardly once per season. After all, the show was actually recorded in front of a live audience. Accordingly, (new) series of sketches were increasingly played live in the studio instead of being shown purely as a single player. With a studio tape, the slot on Monday evening and the occasional star guest, the show took on an increasingly late-night character.

Series within the broadcast

Various skits form the concept of the series . Most of them are parodies of existing films or novels.

Bully and the wallpaper
In the first few seasons, Bully (then still with long hair) stood alone in front of a wall of wallpaper and told stories from life. What was special was that he always incorporated terms from a specific topic such as car brands, city names or TV series into the text.
Example:
"Hello, Volvo don't go out to eat a bit of Chinese."
"Just come Mitsubishi , then Suzuki ."
This column was always introduced by the sentence “Hello, friends of easy entertainment. My name is Bully, but that doesn't matter. ”, With the last“ ts ”always being lisped.
The three castanets
Bully, Rick Kavanian and Christian Tramitz play three nameless men who are dressed in black suits, wearing black sunglasses, standing in front of a cardboard corner and facing away from each other, speaking quickly and conversing with many repeated or advanced words. The humor arises from the absurdity of language and content.
Text example:
"My cousin plays the tuba tremendously."
"My uncle also had tuberculosis."
"I'm not into it anymore."
"I'm sorry - suicide?"
"No, deer crossing."
"I also changed wildly once."
"You poached your ex."
"Poachers often poach against their will."
"I have a lot of villas."
"I, on the other hand, have no will."
"Let go of my Willi immediately!"
"Your Willi be done."
"My Willi is on fire."
"You mean Willy Brandt ?"
(Kavanian in Brandt's voice) "Yes, that's exactly what I meant."
The name of the rubric goes back to the first men’s trialogue that revolved around castanets . In the first few seasons, the gentlemen originally told a running story. To recall the connections between the stories, the previous one was always shown immediately before the new one. Only in later seasons, when the trialogues were recorded live in front of an audience, did they each deal with separate stories.
The current Ted poll
Michael Herbig plays a character who wears leather jackets, chews gum and / or smokes with an exaggerated extreme quiff (in a parody of a teddy boy ), who always presented the result of a Ted survey. The name Ted survey was a play on words here, because it was not about a TELE-DIALOG - (short: TED) survey, but the character embodied by Michael Herbig was called Ted and always made a street survey . The joke here was, on the one hand, the absurdity of the question, such as “Are you here more often” and, on the other hand, in the answers.
The Funky Brothers
New York 1970s guys DJ Sugarfly (Rick Kavanian) and Climax Bruno (Bully) walking around James Brown style . The role model was the Blues Brothers .
Our (T) spaceship
Our (T) spaceship is a parody of the television series Spaceship Enterprise by Gene Roddenberry , whose characters are shown under different names with homosexual tendencies and funny. The team consists of Captain Kork (Christian Tramitz), Mr. Spuck or Spucki (Bully), Schrotti, Pulle and Mr. Solo (both Rick Kavanian). The concept for (T) Raumschiff Surprise - Period 1 was developed from the series and its characters . The precursor was the radio sketch series Raumschiff Sonderpreis (with Kpt. Kork, Mr. Spuck and the notoriously drunk ship's doctor Pulle). It ran on RTL Radio for years as an oldies broadcaster before Michael Herbig introduced the series in the Bullyparade.
Sissi - an empress's menopause
Parody of the film Sissi - Fateful Years of an Empress by Ernst Marischka . Forerunner of Lissi and the wild emperor .
Winnetou
Parody of the films of the same name based on Karl May and forerunner of the movie Der Schuh des Manitu .
Arnold Schwarzenegger / Terminator
Parody of the film Terminator , Christian Tramitz embodies the Terminator (originally played by Arnold Schwarzenegger ).
Heidi
Parody of the character of the same name by Johanna Spyri . With Heidi (Bully), Heidi's grandfather (Christian Tramitz) and the goat Peter (Rick Kavanian).
Pavel and Bronko
This is a fictional Czech talk show in which Pavel Pipovič (Kavanian) and his old colleague Bronko Kulička (Tramitz) mostly talk about recent events. Words that actually end in -ig and -litsch always end in -itsch and -litsch, in addition there is always an ashtray filled to bursting between the two and both smoke during the skits.
Gossip coffee with Dimitri
A celebrity talk show in which the moderator Dimitri (Kavanian) invites guests and interviews them. The majority of the guests were played by Christian Tramitz, but Bully was also used here in part. Dimitri's tendency to confuse syllables and word parts, e.g. B. "Scheinführer test", was one of the main features of this rubric.
The Kasirske Brothers
The Saxon brothers Jens (Kavanian) and Jörg (Tramitz) declare war on their environment in a broad dialect. B. Popo spanking devices or blackmail the Coca-Cola group. Under her special observation are "shitty western asses".
Batman and Robin
Parody of the Batman (Kavanian) and Robin (Tramitz) series from the 1960s.
Christian and Daniel - pilots with passion
Two nifty pilots with a slightly funky touch who argue about who is allowed to fly and who is allowed to drink, and then again gossip about the outrageous tornado pilots who are taking their right of way.
Knoff Hoff Show
Parody of the eponymous program by Joachim Bublath (Bully).
Cowboys every day
With Bobby McGee (Rick Kavanian) and Lonely Wolf Jack (Christian Tramitz).
Yeti at noon
The Yeti (Kavanian) invites prominent guests to talk. The guest is often Reinhold Messner , played by Christian Tramitz. It was named after the Sat.1 telecast Vera at noon .
Ronny, Lutz and Löffler
These are three eternal students who keep confusing words. From this part of the broadcast later Radio aktiv - 108.8 MHz emerged (see below).
The totally shitty clique
With corner (Christian Tramitz), Molle (Rick Kavanian) and Kante (Bully). The three mostly talk about past or planned activities with acquaintances who are only mentioned by name. The mostly bizarre, but thematically appropriate names as well as the conclusions that are usually difficult to understand ensure the laughs here.
Latrine - The soap on the toilet
With Ulf (Christian Tramitz), Willy (Bully) and René (Rick Kavanian).
Bully's partner exchange
Various real and fictional people (Arnie, Meister Proper) as well as characters from other parts of the show (Yeti, Batman or Jens Kasirske), but sometimes also entire groups such as B. the crew of the (T) spaceship, looking for certain people or things or have to give them away.
Radio active - 108.8 MHz
With DJ Rock'n Ronny (Christian Tramitz), Grandmaster Löffler (Rick Kavanian) and MC Lucky Lutz (Bully). All three people are apparently " eco " and believe the pseudonyms sound cool. The normal VHF band II , in which radio programs can be broadcast, only goes up to 108 MHz and thus nobody with a normal FM receiver could hear the program. Nevertheless, the three diligently produce programs with topics that are exciting for them, but mostly banal or not at all of interest to everyone else.
Kasperl
A reference to the Austrian puppet theater , which shone because Kasperl was played by Bully and was always happy, while the other characters (often played by Christian Tramitz) were always grim. Another version of the Kasperl is the Kaspürlü, with Rick Kavanian as the Turkish Kasperl, Tramitz as the hyperactive animal and Bully as Seppel.
Calvin Klein advertisement
Parody of the then current Calvin Klein commercials with the slogan: Just…, for a man and a woman, from Calvin Klein .
Peter Lustig / dandelion
Parody of the eponymous program .
Mr. Beisel
Mr. Beisel (Christian Tramitz) is on the road as a flying reporter for the Bullyparade and reports to Bully where he is currently and what issue he is journalistically getting to the bottom of. The reporter's high voice and choppy language are characteristic.
Outtakes
Later, mishaps during the shooting of recorded skits, which were mostly shown in the same program before, were broadcast on the show.
