Bastian Pastewka (born April 4, 1972 in Bochum ) is a German actor , comedian , screenwriter , voice actor and audio book interpreter . He became known to a wide audience at the end of the 1990s through the sketch show Die Wochenshow , in which he gave birth to fictional characters such as Brisko Schneider and Ottmar Zittlau , and in the new millennium through the Pastewka series .

A representative survey by the Forsa Institute in 1999 identified him as the most popular comedian in Germany. Pastewka has received numerous awards, including the German Comedy Prize , the Golden Camera and the Adolf Grimme Prize (2008).

Bastian Pastewka was born in Bochum as the son of a primary school teacher and an agricultural engineer. He grew up in Bonn , where he left the Clara-Schumann-Gymnasium with the Abitur in 1991 . At the same time he attended the same grammar school as Bernhard Hoëcker , who was, however, two grades above him. After doing community service at the University Hospital in Bonn , he studied pedagogy , German and sociology . He finished his studies in 1993 without a degree.

Bastian Pastewka lives in Berlin and Cologne with his wife Heidrun Buchmaier, managing director of an artist agency with which he has been in a relationship since 2004. The couple is childless.

1990s

During his studies, Pastewka founded the Comedy Crocodiles with Bernhard Hoëcker , Oliver Bröker and Keirut Wenzel in 1992 , with three stage programs, most recently Who impregnated Maya the Bee? , mostly appeared in theaters around Bonn and Cologne. In 1997 the group disbanded. From the mid-1990s, Pastewka worked for radio and in front of the camera, including in the WDR youth programs U30 and Lollo Rosso . Here he had the opportunity to gain further media experience with today's author and director Alexander von Eisenhart-Rothe and the book author Mona Sharma . Wide notoriety gained Pastewka by Sat.1 - Wochenshow whose ensemble he belonged from September 1996 to June 2001. As an annoyed reporter who was a regular guest at the visionary pensioner Herbert Görgens , embodied by Ingolf Lück , as well as in the role of the rose Indian, who was considered a constant joke with the question “Want to buy rose?” , Pastewka represented two other main characters in the weekly show.

2000s

In 2003, RTL broadcast the program Without Words , nominated for the 2003 Adolf Grimme Prize , which was followed by a second season with six episodes in autumn 2004. Inspired by the British comedian Rowan Atkinson , Pastewka only played pantomime skits in this format and was awarded the Bavarian TV Prize in 2005 for this .

After the travel magazine Vox Tours sent him on an expedition to Tunisia in 2002 , Pastewka started a new travel comedy on RTL in 2004, during which he toured India , Japan , Russia , Fiji , Vanuatu and Mexico and provided information about the countries and people and combined cultures with comedic elements. Pastewka made guest appearances in 2011 with other colleagues such as Michael Kessler or Oliver Kalkofe for the TV club on various stages in Germany. The concept was to watch TV with the audience in a cozy atmosphere, with the celebrities involved showing selected film or series excerpts. There were some small bonuses for viewers, such as the preview of a program with Wolfgang and Anneliese that had not yet been broadcast at the time.

On May 13, 2011 the successful format was continued with the Sat.1 production Fröhlicher Frühling with Wolfgang and Anneliese , in which folk music programs were parodied.

Pastewka was until 2011 and since 2017 has been a regular guest on the Sat.1 show Genial besides .

In 2012, he starred alongside Judy Winter in the black comedy Mother Must Go , which received critical acclaim.

After leaving the weekly show, Pastewka developed a stage program with comedian Olli Dittrich as well as musical singer Susie Frese and guitarist Ralf Hartmann , which took the quartet to large parts of Germany in 2002, 2003 and 2004. During their appearances they presented musical parodies as well as comedic duo and solo interludes, in which Pastewka also slipped into the role of Ottmar Zittlau.

Bastian Pastewka is a fan of the French comedian Louis de Funès and the radio play series Die Drei ??? .
