Stuart Little 2 is an American comedy film directed by Rob Minkoff from 2002. The film is a sequel to the 1999 film Stuart Little .

action

Two years have passed after the adventures in the first film. Stuart's human mother is now very concerned about his safety after his past adventures and forbids almost everything, especially when Stuart narrowly escapes injury at a soccer game. And when Stuart was working on a model of George's airplane on his own, there was another accident when Stuart suddenly took off with the airplane and flies out of the window. The flight ends in a crash landing in Central Park . George is of course angry about the destroyed model, throws it in a garbage can and turns to his human friends.

Stuart feels left alone, but shortly afterwards he is able to save the canary Margalo from the attack of a falcon on the way back from school. He offers to move in with him and the Little family. A short time later, Stuart's human mother Eleanor misses a valuable ring and Stuart suspects that it fell into the drain. He lets himself down the pipe with a "rope", but it breaks and Stuart threatens to fall into the sewer system. Margalo flies to help and saves him.

When Margalo disappears without a trace, Stuart Little thinks that Margalo was kidnapped by the falcon. He discusses the problem with his human brother George, who covers the subsequent rescue operation and, for the first time, taps into a lie to his parents. Stuart and the house cat Snowbell go in search of the bird. You learn from the street cat Monty that the evil hawk's nest is on the top of the Pishkin Building. Stuart reaches the roof with a balloon and is surprised by the falcon who informs him that Margalo is working with him and that the alleged attack only served to ensure that Margalo is accepted into the Little family in order to spy on the house for stealing . Then he throws Stuart over the edge of the roof and locks Margalo in a paint can.

Snowbell has finally got on the roof, hears Margalo's cries for help and is able to free her. They think Stuart is dead, but when he fell off the roof, he fell into a garbage truck and survived the fall on the garbage bags. The garbage is transported by ship to a garbage island and while looking for an escape route, Stuart suddenly comes across the airplane model that George thrown away. He can make a makeshift repair and flies to Central Park, where he arrives just in time to save Margalo from an attack by the Falcon. The falcon collides with the plane, gets tangled in the propeller, Stuart falls out and is caught by Margalo. The plane and the falcon now end up in the garbage, where the street cat Monty is delighted to be faced with an unexpected snack.

Margalo says goodbye to the Little family and joins other birds flying south. But she wants to return next summer.

Reviews

Kenneth Turan praised the pictures taken using the SpyderCam in the Los Angeles Times of July 19, 2002. They would create the feeling of bird flight. The Little couple's characters are so "toweringly sappy" that they can't possibly be played well, but Hugh Laurie and Geena Davis have no excuse that these characters seem less real than the animations.

"Continuation of a successful children's film that combines real and trick scenes in a familiar way, but neglects the subtle charm of the previous film in favor of child-friendly material battles."

Awards

The film was nominated for a BAFTA Award in 2002 and a Young Artist Award in 2003 . He won the 2003 Visual Effects Society Award for special effects and was nominated for the same award in another category.
