Steven Barry Poster (born March 1, 1944 in Chicago , Illinois ) is an American cameraman .

Life

Steven B. Poster gained his first experience in the film business as a camera operator in the late 1960s. In 1974 he directed the short film Another Saturday Night , for which he was nominated in the same year for the Golden Palm in the category of best short film . From 1977 he worked primarily as a cameraman, until the mid-1980s mainly for television productions. Starting with the 1983 film Zwei Superflaschen auf clearer, he was increasingly involved in cinema productions. He has worked with directors such as Ridley Scott and John G. Avildsen . He collaborated with director Richard Kelly on the films Donnie Darko and Southland Tales . A third joint film was made with The Box - You are the experiment in 2009.

In 2002 he was the President of the American Society of Cinematographers . In 2006, Poster was nominated for an Emmy for his work on the television film Mrs. Harris - Murder .
