Visitors from another world (alternative title: Roswell - UFO crash over New Mexico , original title: Roswell ) is a mystery television film by director Jeremy Kagan from 1994. The film on US cable broadcaster Showtime is about the alleged UFO landing in Roswell , New Mexico , the so-called Roswell Incident . The main characters in the literary film adaptation are Kyle MacLachlan and Martin Sheen .

In 1947, a UFO allegedly crashed in Roswell . The intelligence officer, Major Jesse Marcel, is entrusted with investigating the incident. He believes it was an alien aircraft while being pressured by his superiors to publicly explain the incident as a weather balloon crash. The General Staff has no interest in clearing up the case and keeps hindering Marcel in doing so.
The film takes place around 1990 at a 45-year meeting of the first atomic bombs being dropped, the atomic bombs were stationed in Roswell at the time. Flashbacks to the year 1947 are played back again and again.

The screenplay is based on the 1991 book UFO Crash at Roswell by Kevin D. Randle and Donald R. Schmitt. The film was shot in Bisbee and Tucson , Arizona . It was first broadcast on July 31, 1994 on Showtime.

The film was nominated for a Golden Globe Award in 1995 for Best Mini-Series or TV Movie . He also became the Saturn Awards ceremony in 1995 as Best TV Movie nominated. He was also nominated in 1995 for the CableACE Awards in the categories make-up and camera and light for a television film .
