Charles Martin Smith (born October 30, 1953 in Van Nuys , California ) is an American actor and director .

Life and accomplishments

Smith graduated from Grover Cleveland High School in Reseda, California in 1970 . There he was discovered by a talent scout during an amateur performance when he played Sancho Panza in "Man of La Mancha".

He starred in the films American Graffiti (as Terry "Frog Eye" Fields), Starman , The Untouchables , The Hot Spot - Playing with Fire and I Love Trouble - Nothing but Trouble .

He made his debut as a director in 1986 with the horror film Ragman . Smith directed some episodes of the television series Space 2063 and directed an episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer . He directed and wrote the screenplay for the adventure film The Snow Walker (2003), for which he was nominated for a Genie Award in 2004 as both screenwriter and director . He was also nominated in 2004 for the Canadian Leo Award in two categories and won the California Method Fest Award . For his leading role in the television movie The Last Casino (2004) he was nominated for the Gemini Award in 2005.
