The Prix Pantheon is a German cabaret competition that is organized annually by the Bonn Pantheon Theater .

Details on the price

Since 1995 artists and groups from the cabaret , comedy , a cappella , chanson and music cabaret sectors have been invited . The winners of the various categories receive the Prix Pantheon, which is endowed with 3,000 euros each. The competition was moderated for many years by cabaret artist and Pantheon founder Rainer Pause , and in 2015 the event was moderated by Florian Schroeder . It is broadcast by the television stations WDR , 3sat and rbb as well as by the radio station WDR 5 . The Prix Pantheon, nicknamed "German Fun and Satire Open", takes place at the end of April / beginning of May.

As part of the award ceremony for the candidates, the special prize in the “Ripe & Crazy” category will also be awarded. The category honors the life's work of an artist, awarded 4,000 euros; this winner is the only one who has already been determined in advance. Of the others, one person is selected as an outstanding personality in cabaret and honored in the categories “Premature & Corrupted” and “Applauded & Booed”. In the case of the first, the award is made by a jury, the other award is given by the audience. The competition generally takes place live in front of an audience in the Pantheon in Bonn.

Since 2006, the candidates' contributions have been broadcast in full on WDR and 3sat. Up to and including 2014, following the televoting, a fourth category was awarded by the television audience, the Prix Pantheon TV Prize “Klotzen & Glotzen”. All prizes since 2006 have been presented at the “Prix Pantheon Gala”, which is broadcast on television.
