Beginnings

Dave Davis was born in Cologne in 1973. His parents come from Uganda , belong to the Baganda tribe and speak Luganda , a language that Davis also speaks. After fleeing from the dictator Idi Amin , they were granted political asylum in Germany . Shortly after Davis was born, his parents moved to Bonn , where he completed an apprenticeship as an insurance salesman after graduating from school . After three years in the office, he completed a bachelor's degree (Bachelor in Recording Arts). Since then he has also worked as a composer and producer . Among other things, he wrote songs for the boy band Part Six and for Enie van de Meiklokjes and produced audio books and ring tones for Jamba .

Stage identity

On stage, Davis embodied the he developed artificial character of the toilet man Motombo Umbokko. He comes from the fictional country of Nfuddu and lives as a refugee threatened with deportation in Germany. The comedy arises mainly from the character's apparent problems with the German language. Well-known terms such as Hartz IV to "Hass-Vier" and well-known idioms are satirically alienated, such as B. "Germany must tighten the rope".

Since 2014 Davis has performed with the third solo cabaret program, Afrodisiaka! under his own name without his stage character Motombo Umbokko. In March 2015 he was awarded the Stuttgart Besen (Goldener Besen) cabaret award from the Stuttgart Renitenztheater under his real name .

After his success on the open stages in North Rhine-Westphalia , Brainpool Live Entertainment, a subsidiary of Brainpool , noticed him. In 2008, Klaus-Jürgen Deuser included him in the ongoing NightWash Tour 2008 and was seen several times in the same year on the television shows NightWash ( Comedy Central ) and TV total ( ProSieben ).
