Real name

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The real name or personal name is the real name (technical term in the GND ) of a natural person . This name appears - as a rule - as a full name in the official ID .

Bourgeois name

This is to be distinguished from the civil name , which is used on addresses, in directories, newspaper reports and in civil business transactions. An example:
the former Minister K.-T. zu Guttenberg's full name is Karl-Theodor Maria Nikolaus Johann Jacob Philipp Franz Joseph Sylvester Buhl-Freiherr von und zu Guttenberg (and would therefore be at B in the address directory). The real name, however, is Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg and is classified under G.

Half-year and job references should bear the real name, while training certificates should bear the full name.

Pseudonyms

Pseudonyms (for example of writers), aliases (in the field of secret services and the police), nicknames (among friends or in the family) and nicknames (for example in Internet forums) are not real names . Especially in this context - as a counterpart to the pseudonym or code name - is called a real name and real name or Orthonym .

The transition from pseudonym to real name can be fluid, see for example Loriot , Lenin or Stalin .

In some social networks on the Internet, there is an intense discussion about the question of whether a real name or a nickname should be used.
