Toilet woman or toilet man (also Klofrau or Klomann ) refers to employees or self-employed persons whose task it is to keep the toilets in publicly accessible toilet facilities clean. Toilet woman / toilet man is not a job title , but rather untrained unskilled workers .

Activity and locations

The main task is to keep toilets clean and to clean the toilets. At the same time, they take on a supervisory function to protect the systems against vandalism . As a rule, the toilet attendant sits in the entrance area of the toilet and expects a tip , which the guests throw into a plate or similar container. The money earned is also known as plate money . Locations are public toilet facilities (also urinal ), portable toilets for events, department stores or in restaurants.

Others

A controversial topic in the activity is who gets the tip. Often the employer keeps the money. In a dispute in the Centro shopping center , a cleaning company refused to give a toilet supervisor its share of the revenue from collecting plates. The woman complained against it and was able to prevail in court.

Cabaret artist Dave Davis developed the fictional character of the toilet man Motombo Umbokko and used this character until 2014.
