Kay Ray (born September 12, 1965 in Georgsmarienhütte , real name Kai David) is a German cabaret artist and entertainer .

Life

Born as Kai Lüdtke, he learned the trade of hairdresser and worked in Osnabrück . After moving to Hamburg , he worked there for six years at the Pulverfass Cabaret , where he presented his first solo program in 1996. Kay Ray's programs show black humor . He tells stories from "his life" or reports on people he has met or whom he knows. In his shows he performs songs by pop greats like Milva or Billy Joel , but often changes parts of the text. Homosexuality is also a large part of his programs, but not the main theme of his appearances.

Kay Ray performed his show “Late Night” at Schmidts Tivoli in Hamburg and in 2015 moved to Gruenspan in Hamburg with his late night show , just a few meters from Schmidts Tivoli. He had other appearances with his solo show at the cabaret Die Wühlmäuse , the Eichberg cultural center in the Rheingau, the Hahn Café in Koblenz and the Pantheon Theater in Bonn . He was seen in cabaret television shows such as Rogler's mad cabaret: Pfanntastisch or at the 3sat Festival . In 2005 he performed at the Open Flair Festival. He was also more professional on board the AIDA fleet .

Kay Ray once called himself a "gay pen", but is actually bisexual. He was in a relationship with a man for 12 years. Since August 2010 he has been with a woman with whom he is now married and who has had a daughter since 2011.

Kay Ray is characterized by his shrill manner and by his running gags during the performances. Amongst other things

  • he smokes on stage
  • he runs after people who go to the bathroom
  • he speaks to the employees of the theater
  • he drinks vodka on stage
  • he changes lyrics according to the situation
  • he speaks to people in the audience or sits on their laps
  • he sings certain songs on request, again changing the text
  • he cuts the hair of the guests (whoever wants to) on stage
  • he orders pizza for the audience
  • he completely undresses on stage and forms figures with his penis
