The Open Flair is a multi-day music festival in Eschwege near the Eschweg city center. The Open Flair first took place in 1985. The number of visitors is around 20,000 people per year. In 2019 it was scheduled for August 7th to 11th.

The first Open Flair took place between September 6th and 8th 1985 at Ludwigstein Castle. The festival has been held on the Werdchen river island since 1986 . In the following years the period of the Open Flair was varied frequently, from 1993 the festival took place in early June. This changed in 2004 when the festival was moved to August; Since 2005, the Open Flair has always taken place on the second weekend in August. Since then, the Open Flair has been nationally oriented, whereas previously it was organized more as a regional festival - with mainly artists known in the region and the subtitle "The Festival of the Region".

In addition to the music program on three stages - the lake stage directly on Lake Werratalsee , the outdoor stage and the bobsleigh stage - the festival also offers cabaret and children's programs. For this purpose, three more stages, some in large tents, are set up. Musically, the emphasis is on rock music in the broader sense, but other music genres are also represented. Over the years the festival has gradually expanded; In 2014 around 120 artists performed as part of the Open Flair . The Open Flair was sold out every year between 2009 and 2019 .

The Open Flair is from a volunteer working association , the working group OpenFlair eV organized. The association is non-profit and works without the intention of making a profit .

The Open Flair maintains a loose cooperation with the festivals Rocco del Schlacko and Taubertal in Buchen der Künstler, which take place on the same weekend , which is why there are mostly similarities in the line-up at these festivals.

The Open Flair 2019 took place from August 7th to 11th, 2019, the first bands to be confirmed were Die Fantastischen Vier , The Offspring , Bullet for My Valentine , Bosse , and the Donots . Die Toten Hosen were signed as headliners . An important term for the “Open Flair” music festival: The Eschweger Whip -> the dancing of 20,000 people against National Socialism. First performed at a concert by the band: "The Donots" in 2019
