Monobo Son is a band from Bavaria founded in 2011.

history

Monobo Son is a band from Bavaria founded by LaBrassBanda trombonist Manuel Winbeck . The band gave their first concert in 2011 at Import / Export in Munich's Bahnhofsviertel. In 2013 Monobo Son was invited by the Goethe-Institut Moscow to a two-week tour through Russia, along the Volga. With " Monobo Son" their first EP, which contains five songs, was released in the same year. This was partly recorded outdoors. The Munich cattle yard served as the "studio" for this. In 2015 Monobo Son released their debut album " Jambo" , which contains twelve songs as well as a hidden track . The title of the album " Jambo" is an equivalent greeting in Swahili as is " Servus " in the Bavarian language area . In the fall of 2014 the band went on a coffee shop tour across Germany. The band was accompanied by a film team from Bayerischer Rundfunk at a live concert in 2016 and can be seen on the "24 Hours of Bavaria" broadcast in hours 17 and 22. In addition to club gigs in Berlin and Hamburg, the band played at festivals such as Haldern Pop, Chiemsee Summer, Wuzdog Open Air, Theatron Musik Sommer and the Echinger Brass Wiesn and often tours through clubs in southern Germany. Between 2015 and 2017 there were repeated changes in the line-up of the band and also in the instrumentation. The place of the changing keyboard player was replaced with Benedikt Dorn on guitar. In February 2018 their 2nd EP "Scheissen" was released. Shortly before release, the band made their first official music video for the EP's title track.

style

The lyrics of Monobo Son are written in Bavarian dialect . Musically, the band is a representative of the new Bavarian music, they mix classical music, brass, jazz and electronic sounds into a colorful mix of styles.
