Olli Schulz and the dog Marie is a German-speaking indie rock group from Hamburg . The group's front man and singer is Olli Schulz .
history
Before his career as a musician, Olli Schulz worked as a stagehand for various national and international artists. During this time he was already writing songs himself. When his friend Marcus Wiebusch (front man of the Kettcar group and co-owner of the Grand Hotel van Cleef label ) heard this, he offered Schulz to bring out a record on his label. Together with his friend Max Schröder , he recorded the record in 2003 , will you break my heart, then I'll break your legs . In the same year he appeared as support for Paul Weller .
In 2005 the second album followed with the title Das beige Album . Typical for the first two records are the witty to melancholy lyrics by Schulz.
For the recordings of the third studio album Waiting for the Boomerang , Olli Schulz and the dog Marie switched to the EMI label Labels in order to be able to produce more elaborately than would have been possible with the previous independent label Grand Hotel van Cleef . Nevertheless, the group remained friendly and ideally connected to their label. According to Olli Schulz, waiting for the boomerang is more serious and personal, and it is a musical advancement away from the singer-songwriter style of previous releases.
With this album Dennis Becker ( Tomte , Marr ) joined the band as bassist and Andre Frahm (Marr, The Dance Inc. ) as drummer. Before that, they had already supported the group in live performances. The record also features Mark Tavassol , Pola Roy and Judith Holofernes from the group Wir sind Helden and Arnim Teutoburg-Weiß from Beatsteaks .
Furthermore, the limited 7 "single Ausflug mit Razzia was released in March 2008 , which contains cover versions of the Hamburg punk band Razzia .
Since Schröder was on tour with the band Tomte and had no time to record, Schulz released the album Es brennt so schön as a solo artist in 2009 . Later attempts to work together again did not materialize. Schulz released further solo albums with the albums SOS - Save Olli Schulz (2012) and Feelings aus der Asche (2015), and Schröder also devoted himself to other projects. A continuation of the interaction is uncertain.
