Mark Tavassol (born February 18, 1974 in Bremen ) is a German musician , composer , songwriter and music producer . He became known as the bassist for Wir sind Helden and bassist and guitarist for Gloria .

Life

Tavassol is the son of an Iranian father and a German mother and spent the first years of his life in Tehran . After graduating from high school, he began studying medicine at the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf , where he passed his state medical examination in 2001 .

Tavassol came to Wir sind Helden through his friend Pola Roy , who persuaded him to become the group's bass player. He was the last member to join Wir sind Helden and is the only musician in the band who has not adopted a stage name . Because of the double workload, his boss offered him a part-time position that was completely unusual at the time, so that he could initially work at night in the emergency room and during the day in the studio.

In addition to Wir sind Helden , Tavassol works as a musician and songwriter with artists such as Emma6 ( Paradiso ), Olli Schulz , Jessica McIntyre ( Sam Ragga Band ) and Ingo Pohlmann . Together with the TV presenter Klaas Heufer-Umlauf , he founded the band Gloria . Tavassol is also politically active: He supports Benny Adrion's organization Viva con Agua , for which he traveled to Africa with Pohlmann, and published an essay on Europe's development opportunities in Stern . Along with Tim Mälzer and Peter Lohmeyer, he is one of the few who have taken part in all previous events of the charity football game Kicken mit Herz , which has been held in Hamburg since 2008 . Since March 2018 he has been leading the studio band of Heufer-Umlauf's late night show Late Night Berlin .
