Bring me home is the fourth studio album by the German band Wir sind Helden and was released on August 27, 2010 by Columbia . The album was released after the band had been on hiatus for almost two years, which had been on hold for an indefinite period since April 2012.

In addition to the standard CD, a limited special edition was also released for which all songs were recorded acoustically. In advance of the release, the title Alles was released as a single on August 6th . The album entered the German album charts as well as the Austrian album charts at number 1 in the first week of the chart . In March 2011, seven months after its publication, Bring mich nach Heim was awarded gold in Germany for 100,000 records sold.

The album's title track was used as the soundtrack for the film The Coming Days .

Recordings

The band chose the Englishman Ian Davenport as producer . He was recommended to them by a friend and was particularly convincing because of his taste in music, which largely coincided with that of the band. In early 2010 the band booked the Tritonus Studio in Berlin for a period of three months, one month just to rehearse the songs. During the studio stay, the band Selig recorded their album Von Ewigkeit zu Ewigkeit in the neighboring studio .

The recordings of the basic tracks took place for the first time live with the support of the studio musician Jörg Holdinghausen ( Tele ) on the electric bass, while the instruments for the previous albums were recorded individually and overdubbed . Mark Tavassol switched to electric guitar, while Judith Holofernes concentrated on vocals. The tracks were first recorded in analogue on magnetic tape and later digitized for post-processing. Compared to the previous albums, the band used fewer synthesizers , instead traditional instruments such as accordion , oud or banjo can be heard. A total of 15 tracks were recorded, three of which are not included on the album. One of them, The Wasp , was used as the b-side of the pre-released August 20, 2010 single Alles .

Reviews

Artur Schulz from laut.de writes that the titles are varied, dexterous and handmade. The album is said to have “come out harmoniously with the eccentricity typical of heroes and all kinds of text bonmots”. The online magazine whiskey-soda.de calls the album the result of the band's efforts to do what they do best: "Write profound lyrics and put beautiful melodies under them". It breaks with the previous albums and shows a whole new, more mature side of the band. She succeeded in creating an album that won't let you go. Stephan Müller from plattentests.de also notices a break with the previous albums, the days of synthesizer sounds are over, the band sounds “settled, more sedate, to put it flatly: more thoughtful”. Müller writes about the lyrics that listeners who previously found the band “too cheesy” will enjoy them as well as those “who see Judith Holofernes as a great lyricist”.
