Tele is a German rock / pop - band from Freiburg , which in Berlin is located.

history

Singer Francesco Wilking

Francesco Wilking grew up in Lörrach and founded the band Kicking Edgar Allan Poe there . After graduating from high school in 1994, he met some of the members of today's band in Freiburg. Together with Martin Brombacher and Patrick Reising, who already played with him in his Lörracher formation, he founded the band Tele. He then moved to Berlin with the musicians, where in 2000 the self-produced debut album 1001 Suspicion was released. The songs are characterized by a typical indie guitar sound, which then takes post-rock paths when building the song . Tele's music sometimes contains clear references to the sounds of the eighties without being retrospective . This is due, among other things, to the use of keyboard arrangements. B. Synthetic brass used.

In 2002 the Hamburg-based record company Wallpaper Records took over the distribution of the album (reprinting) and released an EP with five new titles. In 2004 the label released the second album by the band Wovon wir sein Leben , which was produced under sound engineer Patrik Majer , who had also worked for the band Wir sind Helden . It mainly contains German-language pop songs, the texts of which mostly describe background stories from individual (love) everyday life.

Tele then signed a record deal with Universal , which later released the band's first video for the single "Falschrum".

In June 2006, shortly before the completion of the third album, Tele toured Africa (South Africa, Mozambique, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Tanzania, Zanzibar and Madagascar) on behalf of the Goethe Institute , and performed in China in October 2007 with the Berlin band Mia ( Nanjing).

On February 9, 2007, the band represented the state of Baden-Württemberg at the Bundesvision Song Contest entitled Mario and came in 10th after a telephone vote.

On February 23, 2007, Tele released their third album entitled We need nothing , which was recorded again under Patrik Majer. After the release of the single / EP Die Nacht ist jung (release: May 15, 2009) and the change to the new (old) label tapete records, their fourth album Every Animal was released on June 5, 2009 , which was produced in collaboration with Majer, Moses Schneider (Beatsteaks, Tocotronic), Pascal El Sauaf and Peter Schmidt (Klee, Selig, Quarks).

In early 2011, the band released their first live album, Every Tour Live . The tracks were recorded from February 19-21, 2010 in Hanover, Hamburg and Potsdam.
