Moses Schneider

Moses Schneider (* 1966 in Berlin as Andreas Schneider ) is a German music producer and music studio operator. He gained fame primarily through his collaboration with German rock bands such as the Beatsteaks and Tocotronic . Schneider captures the live qualities of his artists, which determines the sound of his productions.

Life

Schneider came in 1982 with recordings of his former band emphasis for the first time with music studio equipment in contact. From 1985 to 1987 he worked as an assistant in the sinus recording studio of Hans-Ulrich Weigel in Berlin before the 1987 Hansa Tonstudio joined with Tom Mueller worked. His first work as an assistant was recording the song Blown Away from the Pixies album Bossa Nova . In 1989 he finished his training and moved from Berlin to Hamburg and returned to his hometown in November 1990 after the fall of the Berlin Wall . He played with the band for some timeGum (released: Soul Corrosion , 1994) and as bassist with Susie van der Meer . Schneider was part of the Bauknex production team between 1991 and 1996. In 1996 he founded the recording studio Transporterraum in Berlin with Bernd "Ben" Lauber and others , whose first release in 1997 was the album Static Warp Bubble by Susie van der Meer.

His preferred mode of production, bands do not individually but in conjunction contrary to practices in rock and pop industry and receive quasi live, brought him in feature names such as "Wunderkind" (Tagesspiegel) or "Star Producer" (taz) that sometimes he was referred to as "the German Steve Albini". Schneider not only shares the style of production with Steve Albini ; Albini's debut as a producer was the Pixies album Surfer Rosa in 1988 .

Schneider was in 2005 and 2008 as a producer of the year for the echo nominated, but lost in 2005 against Stefan Raab and 2008 against Andreas Herbig , who under the pseudonym Boogieman produced (u. A. Wolfsheim , Reamonn , Culcha Candela , I + I ).

In August 2014, Moses Schneider published his e-book "The alternative workbook - or how to pimp your practice room".
