Kanonen auf Spatzen is the first live album by the German alternative rock band Beatsteaks . It was released on May 2, 2008 in an extended version, which contains two CDs and a DVD, and a standard version, which only consists of the first CD of the extended version. On August 15, 2008, a vinyl version of the album followed. It was also released as a box set , which includes three LPs and a poster, two CDs and the DVD of the extended version.

The two live CDs are compiled from a total of 90 recorded concerts during the great Beatsteaks tour in 2007, which finally ended on July 7, 2007 in the Berlin Kindl-Bühne Wuhlheide in front of 17,500 people.

During the tour, they played in small clubs in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and the Netherlands, but also in large halls and at large festivals, such as B. Rock am Ring , Rock im Park or the Highfield Festival .

Moses Schneider , producer of the band, and co-producer Tom Körbler listened through all 759 recordings in a very short time in order to select the recordings that will ultimately be found on the double album. Together with the band members, who only heard about half of the songs, they decided on the tracklist.

" As I Please is the bang-out opener here too, followed by classics like Atomic Love or I Don't Care as Long as You Sing and finally with highlights like Soljanka or Sharp, Cool & Collected," said Moses Schneider. Pieces from the albums Smack Smash and Limbo Messiah are mainly represented . The second CD also contains the recording of the cheap trick cover Hello There .
