The Living Room EP is the second EP from Beatsteaks and marks the beginning of the band's collaboration with producer Moses Schneider .

The CD was distributed free of charge to the visitors of the Beatsteaks concert in the Columbiahalle in Berlin on December 21, 2002. The sound carrier is not available in the free trade, but remnants of the EP have meanwhile been offered in the band's official online shop. The circulation was around 3000–3500 pieces.

The CD contains six cover versions of pieces of music by various bands, such as Nine Inch Nails and Cheap Trick . The intro Attention was recorded with Seeed singer Demba Nabé .

The instruments of the songs on the Living Room EP were recorded together and not, as usual, individually in the studio, which the band considered their living room during the time. This type of recording was also used on the following album, Smack Smash .

Creation of the EP and its name

At the end of 2002 the Beatsteaks played a year-end concert. On this occasion, the Beatsteaks came up with the idea of giving every visitor to this concert “a CD for their ticket”. After their labels Epitaph and WEA had approved, the preparations began. During the production, the Beatsteaks came across Moses Schneider because they had already heard positive things from him.

Since they regarded the studio as their living room for the three days during the recording and also gave away the CD at their "living room concert", they named the EP Living Room EP .
