Doornroosje (Dutch Sleeping Beauty ) is a live club in Nijmegen , the Netherlands .

Efforts were made as early as the late 1960s to found a place for alternative culture in Nijmegen. In 1970 Club Doornroosje opened in an old school building in the Midden district. The club in the brightly painted house with a capacity of 650 people existed there for 44 years, concerts by Joy Division , Cocteau Twins , Nick Cave , Einstürzende Neubauten , The Fall and many more took place. In the 1990s, more electronic music came into the program.

In 2008 the small Club Merleyn was also founded for concerts and parties up to 200 people. It is located at Hertagstraat 13.

In 2014 Club Doornroosje moved to the new Talia student residence building , which is located near Nijmegen train station . The club occupies the first three floors and now has two halls and a lounge.
