reception

Daniel Gerhardt compares the band with the Beatsteaks in his review of the album : “AnnenMayKantereit are reminiscent of the Beatsteaks, although they don't sound like the Beatsteaks. With the veterans of the Berlin punk establishment, they share the boom and the boom fallera, a certain coarseness that always goes at festivals. Your singer Henning May also sings as frivolously as the guy from the Beatsteaks, and his lyrics are just as bad, only in German. "

Josa Mania-Schlegel described the sound of singer Henning May on SZ.de as "Breath of the wounded": "May's great trump card of the rough tone then works like an effect, which is supposed to mean exactly the opposite - namely authenticity."

About the song Often asked , the singer Drangsal said in an interview: "When I heard this for the first time, tears somehow came to me". The song is "perhaps the greatest German-language pop song of the last twenty years". It is "an incredible song".
