Schlagschatten is the third studio album by the Cologne rock band AnnenMayKantereit . It was launched on December 7, 2018 under the label Vertigo Berlin by Universal u. a. released on CD, LP and MP3. As with the previous albums, the band uploaded live versions of many songs to YouTube before the album was released .

A tour for the album is planned, which should begin on January 31, 2019 in Mannheim.

The band has now given numerous interviews on the history of the album and there is also a video documentation on it.

The first track on the album, Marie , is about the loss of a person and how to process it. The focus is on what topics you worry about when you lose someone. In my bed is a rather calm song in which a person is in love with another person and would like to spend the whole day at home with them, while in I'm not going to dance anymore a person does not feel like going to a party and prefer to spend a cozy evening alone at home. In White Wall , problems in Germany are indirectly addressed with the accusation that everyone takes care of themselves instead of tackling the problems. In early crass it comes to problems with drug addiction and how these life changing. A song with the same title was released on the debut album AMK , but is a completely different song.

The title Marie is described as the prelude to the new album, in which it can be seen that the band has stayed true to their original sound, but sounds "even a little wilder and more broken than two years ago". The voice of singer Henning May still manages to "make his audience think, cry, shout along or grin with understanding".

Due to greater life experience, the band has become "more mature" and the "lines rather darker than lighter", which can also be heard in Marie . One can imagine the band "still sitting comfortably on a veranda [d] in the garden [by the campfire".

The song You are different was also recorded in a Cologne version and u. a. published on Youtube.
