Ohrbooten is a Berlin band that mixes elements of reggae , ragga , alternative and hip-hop in their music . The band calls their style Gyp-Hop .
history
The ear boats were founded in 2003. The band Die Toten Hosen , whom they signed in 2005, caught their demo recordings . In the same year, the Ohrbooten released their first album Spieltrieb at JKP .
Ben Pavlidis and Matze Jechlitschka performed as street musicians under the name Debaska for several years before the band was founded .
Markus Lingner was already on the move in many other styles before the ear boats. For example in jazz with standing sex , techno with Berlin Bitch , in pop as a percussionist for Jeanette Biedermann . He also worked on the newly recorded version of the rapper Alligatoah's album "Music is not a solution", contributed two songs and also played in the rapper's live band.
Christopher Noodt played in various bands and projects during his time before the Ohrbooten. In the 2002/2003 season he was musical director at the Maxim-Gorki-Theater in Berlin. In addition to the ear boats, he worked with a wide variety of artists, including FlowinImmO , Arto Lindsay and Vanilla Ninja . He also improvises theater music for Theatersport Berlin, hidden shakespeare and Die Bö. Due to different ideas about the future of the band, he left the band in 2012.
The band's concert stations included: Rock im Park , Rock am Ring , Hurricane Festival , Chiemsee Reggae Summer , Summerjam , Wutzrock , Reggae Jam , Das Fest , Abifestival , Folklore Festival , Deichbrand in Cuxhaven and at the Taubertal Festival .
Since July 14, 2008, the Ohrbooten have been sponsors of the project School without Racism - School with Courage .
