Radio Eins (spelling in the station's publications: radioeins ; RDS : radio1 from rbb ) is a radio program of Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg (RBB) distributed in Berlin and Brandenburg . It is produced at the RBB location Potsdam - Babelsberg and with 100,000 listeners per average hour is the second most successful RBB radio program behind Antenne Brandenburg ( Media Analysis 2006 II ).

History and program direction

Radio Eins was created on August 27, 1997 from the stations Radio B Zwei of the SFB and Radio Brandenburg of the ORB with a focus on rock , pop and infotainment .

With its editorial work and qualitative contributions, the station represents a counterbalance to the format radio of the private stations in the Berlin radio landscape. The target group includes, among others, former listeners of Fritz , the youth radio of the RBB. This is where the slogan for adults only can be traced back to. Another slogan of the station, EINS with good music , refers particularly to the heterogeneous music selection of the station.

In 2003, Radio Eins was the first radio station to receive the Echo Prize for the best media performance in 2003 ; among other things, the length of the interviews is four minutes above the national average. On September 17, 2010, the program Der Schöne Morgen was awarded the German Radio Prize as the best morning program in Germany.

Olli Schulz , Robert Skuppin and Jan Böhmermann : 15 years of RadioEins

On July 2, 2005, the broadcaster produced the ARD - radio super signal of the Live 8 concerts, which took place in nine cities on four continents. On that day, from 2 p.m. until 4 a.m. the next day, Radio Eins broadcast the live broadcast of the concert at the Victory Column as well as the highlights from other cities.

The popular series included Popsplits , a format that was also adopted by RBB television.

The program “ Sanft & Sorgfaltig”, moderated by Olli Schulz and Jan Böhmermann , was very successful . The program was broadcast every Sunday from September 9, 2012 to April 24, 2016 on Radio Eins, and from May 2014 also on You FM , Bremen Vier , N-Joy and Puls . Apparat multimedia GmbH , the former production company of Robert Skuppin and Volker Wieprecht, was the producer of Soft & Careful .

On May 15, 2016, the follow-up program under the title Fest & Flauschig started as a podcast on Spotify .

Broadcast studios

Since 2007, Radio Eins has broadcast not only from the main studio in Potsdam-Babelsberg , but also from a studio every weekday evening, first in the Admiralspalast , then later from the Babylon cinema in Berlin. Regional offers from the studios in Frankfurt (Oder) and Cottbus were also included in the program.

Program renewal 2011

In October 2011, on the initiative of the new program manager Robert Skuppin , who until May 2011 was himself a presenter - mostly together with Volker Wieprecht - started to renew the now outdated program structure and packaging as well as program content also introduce new moderators. Since then, the programs from Monday to Thursday between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. have only been given the name of the presenter. The evening program is now called radioeins live from the Admiralspalast . The well-known pop splits are also no longer to be continued. In return, new formats were introduced, for example the listener interaction power game , a quiz in which listeners compete against politicians. Further program changes are planned.

Founding editor was Helmut Lehnert, former head of entertainment (television) of the rbb. Lehnert shaped Radio Eins significantly through his concept of providing the program with a high proportion of words and as many live elements as possible, contrary to the trend at the time. Lehnert was replaced on May 17, 2005 by Florian Barckhausen, the former editor-in-chief of Stadtradio 88 Acht . On June 1, 2011, the moderator Robert Skuppin replaced Barckhausen in his role as editor-in-chief, who retired at the age of 65.
