Holger "Holgi" Klein (* 8. September 1969 in Cologne ) is a German podcasters (WRINT) and radio presenter . Until 2015 he moderated at Radio Fritz , the public youth program of Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg, and has been on Radio Eins since May 2016 . In addition, Klein moderated the radio talk show Nightline on YouFM until 2010 and then until 2013 its follow-up program Lateline , which was broadcast nationwide on ARD youth programs.

Youth and education

Holger Klein grew up in Weilerswist . His father worked as a carpenter and model maker in the development department of a car manufacturer.

Klein passed his Abitur at the Ville-Gymnasium in Erftstadt in 1991 . Afterwards he did his 14-month community service at the Lazarus Relief Organization . He then began studying economics , which he dropped out after two semesters. He also studied psychology for four semesters until 2010 . Parallel to his other activities, he worked for several years in the checkout area of ​​various horse racing tracks in North Rhine-Westphalia .

Until 1998, Holger Klein worked as the first production manager for programs such as Lindenstrasse (ARD) and Hinter Gittern (RTL).

In 2002 he moderated the talk show Dreilinden - Hart an der Grenz on ORB television together with Steffen Hallaschka . Guests were u. a. Ingolf Lück , Sarah Kuttner , Oliver Welke , Axel Schulz , Paul van Dyk , Katherina Reiche , Andreas Neuendorf and Enie van de Meiklokjes .

Radio

From the very beginning, Klein's professional focus was on talk radio . Here he specialized early on in free conversation formats.

In 1998 Klein worked for Energy Sachsen for about half a year in the night program from Friday to Saturday and from Saturday to Sunday. After working temporarily for Radio Energy , Klein joined the RBB youth program Fritz in October 1998 . There he moderated until March 2005, initially with Steffen Hallaschka , then together with Momo Faltlhauser Die Radiofritzen am Morgen .

Until March 2007, Klein hosted the Chaos Computer Club's chaos radio , which was broadcast every last Wednesday of the month, for seven years . In 1999 he initiated a consumer edition of Chaos Radio as part of the talk show Blue Moon . Until August 2007, Fritz was able to hear his program Die Welt ist klein with Holger Klein within Blue Moon on Mondays , in which he held discussions with listeners on various political and social issues. Under the same brand, he held talks on current political issues every Wednesday for a year and a half as part of a “political get-together”. From the end of 2006 to July 2007, Klein also moderated the Nightflight on the last Monday of the month under the title Netlabel-Nightflight , in which only freely downloadable music was played. From February 18, 2008 to October 18, 2010 he could be heard on Fritz every Monday from 10 p.m. to midnight.

From March 2007 to July 2007, Klein took over Johnny Haeusler's Trackback program and replaced the present-day presenter, Marcus Richter , at irregular intervals .

From April 2010, the start of the program Lateline , until November 19, 2013, Klein moderated the Lateline on Tuesdays alongside Jens-Uwe Krause , Ingmar Stadelmann , Caroline Korneli and Jan Böhmermann , which is broadcast on many ARD youth channels. Before that, he hosted the previous show Nightline on You FM , the youth radio of Hessischer Rundfunk , produced in Frankfurt am Main for many years . On Tuesdays, he had the callers solve Black Stories puzzles or puzzles sent in by listeners; on Wednesdays the callers could choose their own topics. On Thursdays he himself proposed any topic on which one could comment. Since February 2013, Klein can be heard every Sunday in the program Blue Moon with a weekly review on Radio Fritz. Instead, he regularly moderated Blue Moon on Fridays from January 2014 to October 2015 .

From May 2016, Klein hosted the evening broadcast of radio eins together with Nancy Fisher . Katja Weber has been his moderation partner since spring 2017.

Podcasts

Klein is regularly involved in various podcast formats, for example in 2006/2007 he was a repeated guest of the Spreeblick podcast.

Together with Tim Pritlove , he has been producing the Not-Safe-For-Work podcast (NSFW for short), which appears at irregular intervals since June 2009 , in which they talked about the media (mainly radio ), current events, the Internet and other topics. This was streamed live on the Internet and has been presented on its own website since 2012 instead of in Pritlove's blog. Regular publication ceased from July 2014 to November 2015, but live broadcasts of the Chaos Communication Congress and Chaos Communication Camp were produced. With the 93rd episode, Pritlove and Klein announced that they would regularly produce episodes every two to three months.

Since mid-2011, Klein has been publishing his own podcast WRINT ( acronym for “Whoever talks is not dead” (based on a quote from Gottfried Benn )) at irregular intervals .
