Career

Player career

The midfielder was active in the 1st Bundesliga for Bayer 04 Leverkusen and Hertha BSC for many years . From 2007 to 2010 he played for FC Ingolstadt 04 , with whom he was promoted from the Regionalliga Süd to the 2nd Bundesliga . He has been playing for Hertha BSC II in the regional league since the 2010/2011 season. The midfielder scored 14 goals in 157 Bundesliga games. He made a total of 15 appearances in international cup competitions, eight in the UEFA Cup and seven in the Champions League . In the UEFA Cup match against Halmstads BK , he scored his only goal in international matches at club level. For the Germany U-21 national team , he played 23 games and scored one goal. His greatest successes were also the runner-up in 1997 with Bayer Leverkusen, as well as third place with Bayer Leverkusen (1998) and Hertha BSC (1999).

For the 2010/11 season Neuendorf returned to Hertha, where he was used in the second team, but was initially also available to the first team as a standby professional and was used on December 12, 2010 against FC Erzgebirge Aue . On May 24, 2014, he played for the last time in Hertha’s second team. Since then he has been working in the club's youth academy. In the 2014/15 season he worked as a trainer for the Berlin regional division BFC Preussen , with whom he became champion straight away. In summer 2015 he moved back to Hertha BSC, now as coach of the U15 youth team.

Coaching career

After Neuendorf had coached Hertha U15 and U17, he took over as the head coach of the second team in Berlin as the successor to Ante Čović for the 2019/20 regional league season . At the same time, he is taking part in the DFB's 67th football teacher course , which is taking place digitally for the first time due to the COVID-19 pandemic .

Personal

Andreas Neuendorf got the nickname Tick from his team-mate Ulf Kirsten after Neuendorf's hospital stay because of a tick bite . In order to be able to wear his nickname on his jersey according to the statutes of the German Football League GmbH , Neuendorf first had to have it entered as his artist name on his identity card . He achieved this by auctioning two specially made oil paintings. Since 2002, like Brazilian soccer players, he has officially been allowed to wear his nickname Tick on his jersey.

In 2006 Neuendorf had a cameo in the video for Sonnenbank Flavor by Berlin rapper Bushido . In this scene, the latter is wearing a Hertha BSC jersey with the number 20 on the back and the name "Zecke" on it.

The 1.78 meter tall Berliner is divorced and has one child.
