Radio 3 (ORB)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Radio 3 was a joint cultural program from Norddeutscher Rundfunk (NDR) with the broadcaster Free Berlin (SFB) and Ostdeutscher Rundfunk Brandenburg (ORB). Radio 3 went on the air on October 8, 1997. It was a merger of the programs of NDR 3 and SFB 3 and was supported by the ORB.

After the SFB left, NDR and ORB continued Radio 3 on January 1, 2001 . However, when the merger of ORB and SFB to form Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg (RBB) became apparent, the NDR withdrew from the collaboration on January 1, 2003 and again broadcast its own cultural program with NDR Kultur. The ORB (after the merger as RBB) continued to run Radio 3 on its own for eleven months, but took over the NDR Kultur program on an hourly basis. On December 1, 2003, Radio 3 merged with Radio Kultur to form the new Kulturradio program .
