Bremen Vier is a radio program by the broadcaster Radio Bremen for the cities of Bremen , Bremerhaven and neighboring parts of Lower Saxony, which primarily broadcasts pop music and is aimed at listeners aged 14 to 49.
history
Broadcasting began on December 1, 1986 at 9:05 a.m. First song was Pop Muzik of M played. The first moderator was Jürgen Büsselberg. When it started broadcasting, Bremen Vier was the first public broadcasting program with a focus on rock and pop music.
In December 2007 the station moved to a new broadcasting house. The last track played was again Pop Muzik , the last moderator was Axel P. Sommerfeld. Since then, Bremen Vier has also been broadcasting from the new Radio Bremen Funkhaus in Bremen's Stephaniviertel .
The first morning broadcast was "Slip" since April 1989, in the first few years the Hansawelle program was taken over until 9 am . From January 2009 on, there was a new morning show called "Vier begins ", which until the beginning of 2020 was moderated by Roland Kanwicher and Olaf Rathje, alternating with Jens-Uwe Krause and Tina Padberg. Since then, Keno Bergholz has been the new moderator of the morning show as part of a program reform. All information about this can also be read on the broadcaster's website. From 1999 to 2008, the morning program was called Der Dicke und der Dünne and was moderated alternately by Krause and Marcus Rudolph .

Bremen Vier broadcasts its own program Monday to Friday from 5 a.m. to midnight and on weekends from 6 a.m. to midnight. The Lateline was taken over Tuesday through Thursday from 11pm to 1am for seven years . On September 27, 2018, however, the talk show ran for the last time on Bremen Vier. The evening program has been running until midnight since then; the rest of the time, from midnight onwards, the ARD Popnacht takes over, which has only been produced by SWR3 since the beginning of 2011 . Previously, Bremen Vier had organized the pop night every four weeks on Thursday night. During the ARD Pop Night, Bremen Vier takes over the radio news from the NDR on the hour .

Reception of the station
The station is broadcast via two VHF transmitters in Bremen (101.2 MHz with 100 kW) and Bremerhaven (100.8 MHz with 25 kW) and via the cable network in both cities. The station can also be received in adjacent parts of Lower Saxony. The station can be received via VHF in parts of Lower Saxony , Hamburg and North Rhine-Westphalia as well as in Bremen . In addition, the Bremen Vier program is broadcast via DVB-S and an Internet live stream.
In the course of the introduction of DAB + , as part of the digital radio restart, Radio Bremen originally planned to broadcast Bremen Vier via DAB + from spring 2012. On December 20, 2012, Bremen Vier was activated in the state of Bremen via DAB + (Channel 7B). This test operation went into regular operation on February 1, 2013. For the first time in its history, Radio Bremen is participating in the digital terrestrial broadcasting of radio stations.

In 2002 Radio Bremen Werbung , Bremer Tageszeitungen AG and Sparkasse Bremen merged to form bremen4u GmbH . From this the website of Bremen Vier was maintained; there is also an online chat , information and competitions for listeners . bremen4u is also published every four weeks as a free magazine that is available in many clubs, savings banks and other places. From 2005 to the end of January 2007, Radio Bremen TV broadcast bremen4u | tv for five minutes each Monday to Friday ; since February 2007 this program has only been broadcast on Fridays at 7:00 p.m. for 15 minutes. The editorial offices of the website, the printed version and the television broadcast mostly work independently of the radio station, but are still closely linked.
Since 2006, the Bremen Vier website has been back under the umbrella of Radio Bremen. At the same time, the bremen4u website was expanded to become a “Cityguide”, which provides many details about the city of Bremen and also distributes information on events.
Bremen4u has been part of Bremer Tageszeitungen AG since 2009. Radio Bremen Werbung has withdrawn from the project and discontinued bremen4u-TV.
