Bremen Zwei is a public radio program from Radio Bremen . The sender claim is curiosity is worth it . Bremen Zwei sees itself as the “curious, inspiring and demanding program from Radio Bremen”. Beyond pure high culture , the program aims to "extend a casual concept of culture to all areas of life".

Emergence

Bremen Zwei started broadcasting on August 12, 2017. It emerged from the Nordwestradio program , which in turn went on air as a cooperation between Radio Bremen and NDR on November 1, 2001 as the successor to Radio Bremen 2 . The cooperation ended on January 1, 2016. Since then, the Nordwestradio has been a program from Radio Bremen.

As part of a program reform, the Nordwestradio was renamed Bremen Zwei on August 12, 2017 . The station justified this by stating that Radio Bremen was more clearly recognizable as the sender of the program; one expects a greater radiance from it. The Nordwestradio also fell short of expectations in terms of acceptance. In terms of content, this decision explicitly meant no re-edition of the Nordwestradio predecessor Radio Bremen 2 and no return to a classic cultural wave.

With the program reform and the renaming to Bremen Zwei, the program has also revised its broadcasting concept in parts. Since then, live broadcasts have also been carried out during the day on weekends. At that time, the Northwest Radio broadcast almost exclusively recorded programs.

format

The daily program has the character of a magazine as an accompanying program. The format should give listeners as little reason to switch off and switch as possible. The word-music ratio is around 40 to 60. Musically, singer-songwriters , pop , Americana and soul dominate . The selection moves away from the mainstream and is album-oriented.

In addition, Bremen Zwei also offers longer music and word-of-mouth programs in the evening such as radio plays , features , the format literature on site or the discussion program Bremen Zwei Unterwegs on controversial topics from the region. During the talk time , the program is devoted to a guest and his or her story for one hour each week. The summer, autumn, winter and spring guests take place four times a year. Then a celebrity from culture, society and politics will be interviewed live in front of an audience every Saturday for three to five weeks at a time. Katrin Krämer and Tom Grote take turns moderating.

In special programs, the evening courses deepen musical styles from jazz to soul and classical to indie pop .

Reporting area

Bremen Zwei reports regionally on the state of Bremen and north-western Lower Saxony. The reporting area thus essentially coincided with the transmission area - for example from the Dutch border in the west to an imaginary line between Hamburg and Hanover in the east and the East Frisian Islands in the north to a line between Osnabrück and Hanover in the south. The Radio Bremen Studio in Bremerhaven also provides regional information in the form of discussions or contributions, as does the NDR studios in Oldenburg , Osnabrück and Lüneburg and the NDR correspondent offices in Cuxhaven (Niederelbe office), Vechta , Verden , Wilhelmshaven and Lingen (office Emsland). The hour from 9 p.m. to 10 p.m. offers radio plays and features as well as the Podcast Lab as an experimental space for the podcast medium . One of the contributions that are included in the program at this point is, for example, the sociopod . Once a month, the former singer of the band The Jeremy Days , Dirk Darmstaedter , hosts the program Sounds like Dirk .

At the weekend, the program is devoted to daily reporting as well as cultural topics in a broader sense. On the first Sunday of the month between 12 noon and 2 pm, the Mare Radio program is broadcast, a cooperation with the magazine mare from the publisher of the same name. The program deals with scientific and cultural topics related to the sea in the form of longer interviews and reports under changing main topics.

From midnight to 6 a.m., the program Die Nacht is a non-moderated music format with singer / songwriter, pop, swing and jazz. From midnight to 5 a.m., the central radio news of the North German Radio is taken over from Hamburg.

Moderators

Anja Goerz and Tom Grote alternate the moderators of the central morning show . Britta Lumma, Stefanie Pesch, Katrin Krämer, Andree Pfitzner , Jörn Albrecht, Hendrik Plass, Jessika Liedtke, Marius Zekri, Marion Cotta and Martin Busch will moderate the daily program .

Bremen Zwei is broadcast over two VHF frequencies - in Bremen on 88.3 MHz with 100 kW and in Bremerhaven on 95.4 MHz with 25 kW. The transmission area is the federal state of Bremen and northwestern Lower Saxony . The station can be heard via satellite on DVB-S : Astra 1H satellite , transponder 93 (12.266 GHz, horizontal polarization). Worldwide reception via an Internet live stream is also offered. On DAB + is Bremen Two connected via duct 7B.
