Yvette Gerner

Yvette Gerner (born May 15, 1967 in Ludwigshafen ) is a German journalist . She has been the artistic director of Radio Bremen since August 1, 2019 .

After graduating from high school at Kaiserdom in Speyer , Gerner studied political science , German and Slavic studies from 1987 to 1993 at the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg and the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn . In addition to her studies, she worked as a freelancer for Die Rheinpfalz since 1990 . In 1997 she received her doctorate in Heidelberg with the text The European Union and Russia . After a traineeship at ZDF , Gerner worked from 1997 to 2002 as Head of Service (CvD) in the ZDF main editorial department for foreign policy, from 2002 to 2004 deputy head of the international journal , from 2004 to 2010 again CvD in the main department for foreign policy and from September 2010 CvD in the editor-in-chief of ZDF.

On March 5, 2019, Yvette Gerner was elected by the Bremen Radio Council with 23 votes in favor, two votes against and three abstentions as the successor to the outgoing director Jan Metzger .

Yvette Gerner has been a member of the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) since the early 1990s . In 2002 she ran unsuccessfully for the SPD in the mayoral election in Speyer.
