Peter Limbourg (journalist)
Peter Limbourg (born July 7, 1960 in Bonn ) is a German journalist , presenter and director of Deutsche Welle since October 1, 2013 .
Life
Peter Limbourg, son of the German diplomat Peter Limbourg , grew up in Rome , Paris , Athens and Brussels . He studied law in Bonn , where he passed his legal state examination in 1987 . He is married and has three children.
Professional background
After completing his studies, Limbourg began his traineeship at the Deutsche Fernsehnachrichten Agentur (DFA) in Bonn . He came over Leipzig and London to Brussels, where he 1990 Europe - and NATO - Correspondent was. In the following years he reported as a reporter from Iraq , Northern Israel and Algeria . In May 1996 he became studio manager at ProSieben in Bonn. After founding the news channel N24 in 1999, he became editor-in-chief and head of the parliamentary editorial office. He became better known in September 2002 when he and Peter Kloeppel presented the first chancellor duel on German television. In 2005, together with Stefan Raab, he received the golden Prometheus for the show for the 2005 Bundestag election that was broadcast as part of the TV program .
From March 17th, 2008 he moderated the Sat.1 news on weekdays . At N24 he was editor-in-chief and head of the newsroom until June 15, 2010. For this he gave up his post as head of the parliamentary editorial office to his previous deputy, Hans-Peter Hagemes .
For the 2009 federal election , Limbourg again hosted the TV duel, together with Maybrit Illner (ZDF), Frank Plasberg (ARD) and Peter Kloeppel (RTL). It was broadcast on September 13th from the Berlin-Adlershof studio. He also moderated the TV total Bundestag election 2009 alongside Stefan Raab.
From June 16, 2010, Limbourg was Senior Vice President News and Political Information at ProSiebenSat.1 Media AG . Since October 1, 2013, he has been the director of Deutsche Welle as the successor to Erik Bettermann (SPD) .
Peter Limbourg is an honorary member of the diocesan manual of the Malteser Hilfsdienst eV in the Archdiocese of Berlin and was vice-president of the Malteser Hilfsdienst eV from July 2016 to March 2018. He also works as an advisor to the journalistic commission of the German Bishops' Conference.
