The Order of the Phoenix ( Greek Τάγμα του Φοίνικος Tagma tou Finikos ) was founded by the Greek government on May 13, 1926 as an Order of Merit for foreigners and changed into a civil and military order for all persons after the re-establishment of the monarchy on January 18, 1936.

Order classes

The order is awarded today by the President in five classes:

Order decoration

The medal is a white enameled golden paw cross with a golden plastic phoenix in the middle.

For military merit, the order with crossed swords is awarded through the cross angles.

Carrying method

The grand cross is carried with a sash from the left shoulder to the right hip and an eight-pointed silver breast star . Great commanders wear the breast star and a neck medal, commanders only the same. The cross in gold or silver is worn on the ribbon on the left chest.

The ribbon is yellow with black stripes.
