Heinz Glässgen

Heinz Glässgen (born December 15, 1943 in Erbach ) is a German journalist and former director of Radio Bremen .

Life

After completing his studies in philosophy , theology , history and politics in Tübingen , Bonn and Vienna, Heinz Glässgen began working for what was then Süddeutscher Rundfunk (SDR) in Stuttgart in 1970 . In 1971 he became television representative and head of the media work department of the Catholic Church. In 1980 he received his doctorate, was elected to the SDR Broadcasting Council and its deputy chairman. In 1985 Glässgen moved to the NDR in Hamburg, where he became head of the main culture department in 1990. In 1995 he became deputy television program director for the Hamburg broadcaster. From October 1, 1999 to 2009, he was director of Radio Bremen. Since 2010 Glässgen has been chairman of the ARD historical commission .

Various cuts were made for Radio Bremen during his term of office: Due to drastic funding cuts, the station had to enter into collaborations with larger ARD broadcasters for two of its four radio programs. Radio Bremen 2 became the RB / NDR program Nordwestradio , Radio Bremen Melodie became part of the WDR / RB program Funkhaus Europa . Various departments such as production, props or broadcast technology have been outsourced. In autumn 2007 the previously separate radio and television locations were merged at a new location in downtown Bremen.
