Radio Bremen 2 (also: Bremen Zwei ) was Radio Bremen's second radio program. It began broadcasting on April 13, 1952 and was gradually expanded, in contrast to the first program of the broadcasting corporation, to a more sophisticated offer with cultural contributions as well as classical and modern music.

On April 5, 1982, a full program was reached, which from then on broadcast under the name Radio Bremen 2 . In order to make cultural and political content accessible to the listener, the channel was converted into a cultural program on September 1, 1992.

Due to the broadcast via satellite ( DSR and ADR ) and the cable feed ( DSR ), the program could also be received nationwide.

The program sounds for the station were rewritten in 1992 by the Swiss composer Serge Weber . They were recorded and published on a CD with the title "luohtitt - Programmklänge auf Radio Bremen 2" by Serge Weber, Paul McCandless, Eberhard Weber, Helge Nordbakken, Michael Berger, members of the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra & Thomas Andersson. You can listen to them on Soundcloud .

successor

From November 1, 2001, Radio Bremen broadcast the program Nordwestradio, which was produced jointly with Norddeutscher Rundfunk (NDR), with a different program content. The discontinuation of Bremen 2 led to protests from the listeners. Nordwestradio only remembers its predecessor in the evening program, in which broadcasts from Bremen 2 are continued. In the early days, the duration of the Journal information program was also increased a little. In the eyes of critics, however, they no longer come close to the standards of earlier days in terms of their journalistic quality and the proportion of words.

On August 12, 2017, the Nordwestradio was renamed in the course of a program structure reform in Bremen Zwei (changed spelling). The new concept differs from the original Radio Bremen 2 and the concept of the Northwest Radio . Radio Bremen announced that the Nordwestradio had fallen short of expectations and that the new Bremen Zwei was promising greater radiance .
