Peter Radszuhn (born April 13, 1954 in Berlin ; † October 18, 2014 ) was a German radio journalist .

Life

After studying German at the Free University of Berlin , he played from 1978 to 1979 as the first house DJ in the legendary SO36 in Kreuzberg's Oranienstrasse . (He describes this time in the book (with film DVD) and documentary We will go on and on .

In 1978 Radszuhn founded the Neue Deutsche Welle - or punk band Tempo , for which he was guitarist, but also singer and head, until its dissolution in 1982. He then took on tasks in the music industry and led a festival. For several years he was a member of the jury of the rock competition of the Berlin Senate. In 1989 he became a radio employee and was then music editor at the SFB for six years .

For a year in 1996 he was head of music programs at the ORB before he co-founded the new radio station Radio Eins in 1997 . He musically positioned the wave as a program alternative to the format radio concept of the commercial competition. Instead of primarily bringing the current music charts , the wave with the slogan “Only for adults” was broader. In addition to the many live interviews he conducted with established international musicians, he was particularly proud of the first radio appearances with band members from The Strokes , White Stripes and Wir sind Helden . These were shown on Radio Eins before these bands had established themselves in Germany.

With him and his programming, in 2003 Radio Eins was the first German radio station to receive the Echo Prize for the best media performance in 2003 because, among other things, the length of the interviews was four minutes above the national average.

From 1997 to 2014, Peter Radszuhn was Head of Music Programs at the RBB broadcaster Radio Eins . In the program Prime Cuts , which he moderated , he presented classics and new releases from rock and pop music every Wednesday.

“Life is too short for bad music” was his motto, which he expressed in an interview with the Berliner Zeitung . The Rolling Stone and Der Spiegel Online called him in the obituary a "style-music journalists."

Peter Radszuhn had been married since 1994. He died at the age of 60, leaving behind a daughter.
