Jürgen Kuttner

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Jürgen Kuttner (born February 9, 1958 in East Berlin ) is a German radio presenter , cultural scientist , theater director and freelance artist. He was one of the long-time moderators of the radio station Fritz ( RBB ) and co-founder of the eastern edition of the daily newspaper .

Life

Jürgen Kuttner attended Heinrich Hertz's special mathematics school . After graduating from high school in 1976 and completing basic military service with the NVA , he was assigned a physics degree, but preferred to study cultural studies. Because he was rejected there due to a lack of free places, Kuttner took on various jobs, for example as a club manager, caretaker in the kindergarten and at archaeological excavations. At the age of 22 he was able to start studying cultural studies ( aesthetics , cultural theory and philosophy ) at the Humboldt University in East Berlin. In 1987 he received his doctorate with the thesis "mass culture and mass" to Dr. phil. Until the fall of the Berlin Wall he was employed by the Association of Visual Artists of the GDR . In 1990 he played a key role in founding the eastern edition of the daily newspaper , for which he worked until 1992.

Radio career

His radio career began with the GDR youth broadcaster DT64 , from which, in January 1992, Rockradio B of Ostdeutscher Rundfunk Brandenburg (ORB) emerged. There he filled an entire program for the first time without much prior knowledge of the radio. In 1993 the radio station Fritz emerged from the cooperation with the SFB . Until the end of 2007, the radio broadcast moderated by Jürgen Kuttner was an integral part of the broadcast program; in the last few years it was on Tuesdays at 10 p.m. in the Blue Moon .

In 1994 the third program of the ORB started the program Null Uhr Kuttner , which functioned essentially like radio on television and was replaced at the beginning of March 1996 by the similar format Kuttner ring twice , which was even repeated in the night program of the ARD .

A break occurred in January 1995 when Jürgen Kuttner admitted his IM work for the MfS from 1977 to 1983 and then interrupted his radio and television activities . Kuttner explained that at the time he saw the work of the secret service as a defense measure of the GDR against its diverse opponents as legitimate and that his conversations with the Stasi were not a denunciation, but “mediator talks”. The Gauck authorities found no incriminating material and Kuttner went back on the air in March of the same year.

From January 2002 to July 2006, Kuttner was also the radio host of Nightline on You FM , a youth format of the Hessischer Rundfunk (formerly Talk X on hr XXL ). In September 2007 he finally moderated the last radio broadcast on Radio Fritz .

From November 18, 2007, he moderated Sundays 21:00 to 23:00 the show Kuttner and Kuttner with his daughter Sarah Kuttner on the rbb -Hörfunksender Radio Eins . The last program for the time being ran on April 27, 2008, because Sarah Kuttner had no more time for the show due to the many television shoots.

In 2011, Kuttner was a guest presenter of the literary program Exlibris several times for the internet radio station Hörbuch fm .

On January 31, 2013, he and Johnny Haeusler , as a participant in the series The Return of the Radio Legends , hosted his radio for three hours on Radio Eins. There he again had his expert talk with Stefan Schwarz . Other participants in this format were Hugo Egon Balder , Gregor Rottschalk , Christine Dähn , Steffen Hallaschka , Lutz Schramm , Dagmar Berghoff , Monika Dietl , Carmen Thomas , Frank Elstner and Thomas Gottschalk . There was also a special format about the late legends John Peel , Juliane Bartel and Barry Graves , which was run by Peter Radszuhn .

On November 20, 2019, Kuttner, together with Radio Eins, resumed the previous radiotelephone concept and went live again on the Radio Eins website with "Kuttners Radiotelephone". The program cannot be heard simultaneously on the official Radio Eins radio program. However, the stream is available as a podcast.

Other activities

In addition to his radio evenings on Fritz , Kuttner has held so-called video snippet lectures every month since November 1996 under the title From Mainz to the Memel at the Volksbühne Berlin . In January 2014, he hosted his 115th video snippet evening. On the night of November 25th to 26th, 2016, he hosted a Long Night of Video Snippets in the Volksbühne on the occasion of the 20th anniversary. Funny van Dannen and the Bolshevik spa orchestra played as guests .

Thanks to his commented video snippets (e.g. Kuttner explains the world ), Kuttner is now known nationwide in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

In the spring of 2007, Kuttner had adapted his video snippet presentation format for the Internet and ran a video blog on the Netzeitung until it was discontinued in 2009.
