Marion Brasch (born March 11, 1961 in Berlin, GDR ) is a German radio journalist and writer .

Life

Marion Brasch grew up in her native Berlin in the GDR . She comes from a family of German-Austrian communists with Jewish roots. After his return from exile in Great Britain in 1946, her father Horst Brasch (1922–1989) held high offices in the cultural policy of the GDR, her mother Gerda Brasch (1921–1975) was a journalist. Marion Brasch is the sister of the writers Thomas Brasch (1945–2001) and Peter Brasch (1955–2001) and the actor Klaus Brasch (1950–1980). She processed the story of her family in her novel Ab Jetzt ist Ruhe , which was published in 2012 by S. Fischer Verlag .

Brasch completed her school education with the Abitur and completed training as a typesetter . She then worked first in a printing company, later at various publishers and the Association of Composers and Musicologists of the GDR . Until August 1989 she was a member of the SED .

From 1987 to 1992 she worked for the radio station DT64 , initially as a music editor, later as a presenter and author. After 1992, after brief stints at Fritz and Radio Brandenburg , Brasch joined the radio station Radio Eins ( RBB ), founded in 1997 , for which she has been working as a freelancer ever since. She has also been a writer since the beginning of the 2010s.

Marion Brasch is the mother of Lena Brasch (* 1993) and lives and works in Berlin.
