Susie van der Meer (artist name of Susanne Neid) (* July 1973 in Varel / Friesland ) is a German singer-songwriter . She became known for working on the soundtrack of Run Lola Run (1998), which includes her song Somebody Has to Pay .

Life

Susie van der Meer lives in Berlin-Kreuzberg . The name "van der Meer" is the maiden name of her mother adopted by her . She was studying cultural education in Hildesheim when the music producer Moses Schneider noticed her. In Berlin she founded a band with him ( electric bass ) and Bernd "Ben" Lauber ( drums and programming ) and moved into their shared apartment with an attached home studio. In the second half of September 1997 the debut album Static Warp Bubble was released on the Hamburg label Polydor . She then took part as a guest singer on the album Drei by Das Holz . After Polydor did not continue the collaboration, van der Meer turned to various soundtrack requests. In November 2003, she released her second album Luciferin on the independent label Free Play . In 2005 she wrote the song buttonhole for the themed album about teenage girls, Bleib Gold, Mädchen .

The album Eyes on Me , which was released in January 2007, contained some new titles in addition to already published material, mostly by Luciferin . The single Gravity, which was officially released in 2012 ( available on iTunes since 2009 ), was also released in 1999 on the 31st Musikexpress - Sampler Double T Music / The Popular Organization .
