The complaint is the first album by the German music group Wir sind Helden and was released on July 7, 2003 . Immediately after its release, it rose to number 6 in the German album charts and later reached number 2. The complaint is one of the best-selling German albums and reached double platinum . In Austria the album reached number 3 in the charts and number 38 in Switzerland.

In 2004 the album was released in a new version with a red cover picture and a bonus DVD , which was also available to buy separately.

reception

In the Frankfurter Allgemeine , the album was described as an expression of an attitude of refusal against the otherwise common self-exploitation in the music industry, without the lyrics and music being reduced to this. The lyrics of the band are not flat slogans, but rather characterized by “pointed, slightly piquant consumer criticism”.

In Die Zeit , the album was seen as a "small conservative revolution", in which consumer criticism was only reprocessed for a new generation shaped by the recession . The music is composed of well-known ingredients (shortened guitars, revival of the Neue Deutsche Welle , beat- hits, electronics and punk ), but it encourages listening.

In a thoroughly positive review, UniSpiegel described the music as “catchy knarzrock with an eighties-NDW touch” with “weird, socially critical and romantic texts”.
