life and work

Pohlmann was born in Rheda-Wiedenbrück in 1972 . He attended secondary school , completed an apprenticeship as a bricklayer and did community service in Münster . Pohlmann then completed his technical diploma in Münster and later moved to Hamburg .

His musical career began in the band Goldjunge together with Erik Essig , Florian Siegmund and Matze Böhme . The group has been playing what they say is "gentle" rock since 1999 and has appeared in the opening act for Nena , the Cranberries and Laith Al-Deen , among others . This was followed by a tour of his own and various guest appearances, including in the TV series Unter uns on RTL.

The quartet did not have any lasting success , which is why the band later disbanded. Ingo Pohlmann then waited in a Hamburg bar and sang there regularly, every last Thursday unknown artists could just come by and play. There he was discovered by Henning Wehland , the front man of the rock band H-Blockx . Together with Wehland as well as Jan Löchel and Christian Neander , Pohlmann produced his first album Zwischen Heimweh und Fernsucht , which was released on February 24, 2006 in stores. The single contained in it, when now summer was reached number 52 in the German single charts .

In spring 2007, Pohlmann represented the state of North Rhine-Westphalia in the Bundesvision Song Contest entitled Girls and Rabauken . He reached fifth place and continued to work on his second album. This was produced again together with Christian Neander, published on September 21, 2007 under the name Flying Fish and was rated as adult by critics. In the German music charts, the single When It Seems That Nothing Succeeds in 92nd place.

This was followed by a pub crawl through northern Germany and a regular tour through Germany in November 2010, which ended with a concert in the factory . After the release of the single Für Dich , which reached 93rd place in the charts, the third album, King of the Roads, was presented on September 17, 2010 . This time Pohlmann worked with the producer Ralf Mayer . In terms of content, some similarities between the album König der Straßen and pieces by Philipp Poisel could be recognized, but the majority of the critics received it positively. The King of the Roads tour of the same name was held in March and April 2011.

At the end of April 2013 Pohlmann presented his fourth album Nix ohne Grund , which includes the single StarWars and is distributed by Four Music . The corresponding tour began in September 2013 and made guest appearances in Bremen , Berlin , Cologne and Stuttgart , among others .

On September 26, 2013, Pohlmann represented North Rhine-Westphalia at the Bundesvision Song Contest 2013 entitled Breathing . With the 12th place he could not build on his first participation.

Since 2009 Pohlmann has been playing regularly in the FC St. Pauli Hamburg Allstars team as part of the benefit game Kicken mit Herz , which has been taking place annually in the Hoheluft Stadium in Hamburg since 2008, against the UKE medical team , the Placebo Kickers Hamburg. This event supports the children's heart ward at the University Clinic Hamburg-Eppendorf.
