The factory in Hamburg-Ottensen , a district in the Altona district is since 25 June 1971 existing cultural center . It was founded by the painter Horst Dietrich and the architect Friedhelm Zeuner in the building of a former Prussian ammunition factory. Horst Dietrich, winner of the Max Brewer Prize 1993, handed over the management of the factory to Ulrike Lorenz in 2012. The building from the Wilhelminian era impresses with its special architecture: a high, nave-like room with a wooden support structure and circumferential galleries on the two floors, which allow a view of what is happening in the hall. Friedhelm Zeuner received the Hamburg Senate's Architecture Prize for the renovation. As a kind of monument to industrial history, there is an old crane weighing 15 tons above the inlet, which was originally used in the Menck & Hambrock factory. On the night of February 11, 1977 the factory burned to the ground, but was rebuilt in 1979 based on the old model and using fireproof Bongossi wood.
