Klaas Heufer-Umlauf (born September 22, 1983 in Oldenburg , Lower Saxony ) is a German television presenter , actor , singer and television producer . He is mainly known as part of the duo Joko and Klaas and their programs MTV Home on the German music channel MTV Germany and the conceptually similar programs neoParadise on ZDFneo and Circus HalliGalli on ProSieben . Heufer-Umlauf is also a co-founder of the band Gloria .

Life

Klaas Heufer-Umlauf attended the Hochheider Weg secondary school in Oldenburg , Lower Saxony , is a trained hairdresser and worked, among other things, as a make- up artist in Weimar before his television career . He completed his community service in the geriatric department of a hospital in Cologne. According to his own statement, he is a quarter of Polish descent.

He had his first stage experience as a teenager with the theater group "Kurlandtheater", and later played in several plays at the Oldenburg State Theater .

Heufer-Umlauf lives in Berlin-Kreuzberg and is in a relationship with the Austrian presenter Doris Golpashin . The couple have two sons born in 2013 and 2018.

Career

At VIVA , he recently presented the programs VIVA Live! who have favourited Retro Charts and Klaas' Weekly Show . In the second season of the RTL comedy series All love Jimmy he had a small guest role in two episodes. In 2007 Heufer-Umlauf had a guest appearance in the music video And No Matches by the band Scooter . He speaks a weekly radio column on the radio program Bremen Vier .

In May 2009 Heufer-Umlauf was a member of the jury for an edition of the talent show Mascerade - Germany warps , the German equivalent of the Japanese show Masquerade . In June 2009 he switched from the music channel VIVA to MTV, where he hosted the show MTV Home alongside Joachim “Joko” Winterscheidt until March 2011 .

At the end of 2011, Klaas Heufer-Umlauf and Joko Winterscheidt founded the joint production company Florida TV together with Endemol . In this joint venture, which was 51 percent owned by Endemol and 49 percent by Joko and Klaas, they produced all formats. Florida TV ( Black Flamingo for short at the beginning of 2019 ) has been an independent production company of Joko and Klaas since 2019 .

Heufer-Umlauf made a cameo in the movie Rubbeldiekatz by Detlev Buck , which was released on December 15, 2011 .

At the beginning of 2018, Heufer-Umlauf and his colleague Winterscheidt extended their contract with ProSieben. Joint broadcasts between the two are to be continued in the future. The broadcaster also announced that Heufer-Umlauf will host his own late night show called Late Night Berlin . Since March 12, 2018, the show has been running regularly on Monday evening at around 11:10 pm. The fourth season started on September 23, 2019, the programs were recorded and broadcast as uncut. This was again targeted in the new episodes of the fifth season, which started on February 24, 2020.

He has also been moderating the Baywatch Berlin podcast with Jakob Lundt (his sidekick on Late Night Berlin ) and Thomas Schmitt (Managing Director of Florida TV) since November 2019 .

In February 2020, Heufer-Umlauf was voted third in the entertainment category of the Journalists of the Year 2019 award . After the reporting format STRG_F had revealed that it had only faked authenticity in some programs by staging , the award was revoked in March 2020.

Social Commitment

Together with Joko Winterscheidt, Klaas Heufer-Umlauf is committed to learning to read and write as part of the “iCHANCE” campaign, which is carried out by the Federal Association for Literacy and Basic Education .

The entertainer has been actively involved in the fight against leukemia for many years. As part of the nationwide campaign of the DKMS German bone marrow donor database “Project two million heroes wanted! Shoot the DKMS spot for life! ”Heufer-Umlauf was an active member of the jury. He also took over the moderation of the DKMS youth press conference and is registered as a stem cell donor himself.

In May 2020, after their victory in the show Joko & Klaas against ProSieben , Heufer-Umlauf and Winterscheidt drew attention to the sexual harassment of women in the 15 minutes provided by the broadcaster at 8:15 p.m. in the show Men Worlds moderated by Sophie Passmann .
