Grimme Prize 2020

The 2020 Grimme Prize should take place on March 27, 2020 in the Theater der Stadt Marl . The nominations were announced on January 16, 2020, the award winners were published on March 3, 2020. A total of 73 productions and individual performances were nominated for the 56th Grimme Prize, selected from more than 850 submissions and suggestions.

Event cancellation and replacement

On March 11th, the award ceremony was canceled as a precaution against the spread of the coronavirus . On March 25th, the award ceremony was postponed to August 21st as an expected replacement date; At the beginning of July it should be decided whether this can be complied with. As early as June 2nd it was announced that a gala event would not be held and that the award winners would instead be honored with a report on 3sat . The report was moderated by Jo Schück , who had previously met some of the winners and presented them with the award.
