Volker Heise (* August 1961 in Hoya ) is a German television director, dramaturge and producer. He became known for the living history series Schwarzwaldhaus 1902 , for which he received the Grimme Prize in 2003 .

biography

Heise, born in August 1961, grew up in Hoya in Lower Saxony. He studied political science in Hanover and Berlin and graduated from the Otto Suhr Institute of the Free University of Berlin.

During his studies he was involved in the alternative radio station " Radio 100 " in Berlin, later he was a reporter and editor for the radio stations "Fritz", "inforadio" and "Radio Eins" from ORB and SFB (today RBB). At Radio Eins he was most recently head of prime-time programs.

From the mid-1990s, Heise worked closely with Thomas Kufus and the Berlin production company zero film ; Initially as a copywriter and dramaturge for documentary television series and full-length documentary films. Among other things, he was responsible for the conception of one of the first German documentary soaps that were developed for arte and various ARD channels based on the English model ( birthing station , Neue Heimat Berlin , Tanzpalast, etc.). In 2001, Heise directed Schwarzwaldhaus for the first time in 1902 . The series was awarded the Grimme Prize and nominated for the German Television Prize and is considered to be one of the most successful documentaries on German television and a role model for numerous "adventure documentaries" in Germany. Heise subsequently directed two further living history projects for ARD ( Adventure 1900 - Life in the Manor House from 2004 and Adventure 1927 - Summer Resort from 2005).

Since 2008 Heise has been a partner of zero one film GmbH, which emerged from zero film GmbH. For zero one he developed the arte series The culinary adventures of Sarah Wiener (various series from 2005-2014) and the SWR / ARD presenter format Matusseks Reisen . He also directed both series.

From 2008 to 2009 Heise developed and realized the television project 24h Berlin - A Day in a Lifetime . With the help of over 70 directors, he documented a day in the life of a big city and processed the material into a 24-hour television program. The program was broadcast on September 5, 2009 on arte and on rbb television . Together with the producer Thomas Kufus , he received the Bavarian TV Prize for this . In 2010 Heise also received the special prize of the Robert Geisendörfer Prize and the German Television Prize 2010 .
