Cyrill Boss

Cyrill Boss (born November 24, 1974 in Munich ) is a German film director and screenwriter .

Life

After various short films, he graduated from the Baden-Württemberg Film Academy in the field of directing in 2003 . Since 2000 he has been working with Philipp Stennert as a writer and director duo. In 2006 they shot their first joint feature film Neues vom Wixxer . The parody of the Edgar Wallace films of the 1950s and 1960s saw almost one million viewers in the spring of 2007.

This was followed by the action comedy Jerry Cotton (2010) and Das Haus der Krokodile (2013), a film adaptation of the youth novel by Helmut Ballot . Boss and Stennert received the Bavarian Film Prize in 2013 for Das Haus der Krokodile and were nominated for the German Film Prize in the same year .

In 2013, Boss and Stennert directed the psychological thriller Beside the Track - Adrenalin for ZDF . The film is based on the novel of the same name by Australian bestselling author Michael Robotham and premiered at the Munich Film Festival . In 2014, the directing duo adapted the second thriller in the series of novels entitled Beside the Trace - Amnesia .

In autumn 2015, Boss and Stennert took over the direction of a two-part event movie for ARD entitled The Dasslers - Pioneers, Brothers and Rivals . The Dasslers premiered in 2016 at the Munich Film Festival and was awarded the Bernd Burgemeister TV Prize.

Boss and Stennert were responsible as authors and directors for the eight-part thriller series Der Pass (2019) on the pay-TV channel Sky . In 2020 they were awarded the Adolf Grimme Prize and the German Television Prize for this. In the same year filming began for the second season.

Cyrill Boss and Philipp Stennert also work as advertising film directors.
